*Seed is treated with fungicide

About- (Heirloom) All-America Selections winner. Fordhook #242 is our most popular garden variety of large seeded bush lima beans. Vigorous, dependable plants yield a heavy crop. Pods are 3 1/2 - 4 inches long, uniform, and well filled with plump, thick beans of the finest quality and taste. Heat and drought resistant. TREATED SEED (fungicide treated to prevent seed from rotting before they sprout)

When and Where to Plant- Select a sunny location and plant when all danger of frost is past and the soil has warmed. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food and smooth over with a rake. Firm soil over seed and keep soil moist. For a continuous supply of fresh beans, plant every 3 weeks.

Care and Harvest- Grows best in a soil with a pH between 6 and 7, and just a light application of fertilizer. Do not over fertilize as this will cause an overgrowth of foliage and not allow pods to form. Water at ground level to reduce the probability of disease. Pick beans when the seeds have formed and the pod is firm when squeezed.  Hold the stem with one hand and pick with the other hand to avoid tearing the plant.
