About- Also called Catmint or True Catnip, this perennial herb is a native to parts of Europe, Asia and Africa. As the name implies, catnip is an ideal treat for cats but can also be used to flavor teas.

When and Where to Plant- Start indoors 6 weeks before transplanting or sow directly into the garden when the danger of frost has passed. Grow in well drained soil with a pH around 6.5. Prefers full to partial sun.

Care and Harvest- Water plants only when the soil dries out. Cut back in the spring to improve growth appearance. Harvest leaves by cutting the stems or shearing flower spikes after the plant reaches 6" or taller.
